[ Rapid cylinder exchange coupling for breathing apparatus ]

The alphaCLICK rapid cylinder exchange coupling for MSA breathing apparatus is unique and MSA patented. alphaCLICK fits on MSA 200 or 300 bar standard threaded cylinder valves and completely eliminates the need for threading. The cylinder is simply snapped onto the pressure reducer of the AirMaXX or BD 96 SCBAs which feature alphaCLICK. Attaching and removing of cylinders can thus be performed at least ten times faster.

alphaCLICK integrates several important features to increase safety and reliability. First of all, alphaCLICK can only be disconnected when there is no pressure. Then it requires a two-step disconnection sequence. A flow restrictor at the cylinder engages when alphaCLICK is not connected which avoids uncontrolled air flow if the valve was accidentally opened and thus prevents the cylinder from getting out of control. alphaCLICK also has a built-in dirt guard, which keeps air clean and ensures smooth functioning.

In addition to the certifications according to the pressure equipment directive CE approval according to EN 137 [in combination with AirMaXX and BD 96 pneumatics] alphaCLICK has proved its reliability in extensive laboratory and field tests. The tests included e.g. more than 10,000 coupling operations, pressure of more than 600 bar, corrosion tests, operation at –40 °C and tensile strain of 2,000 N.

Under the slogan “make sense technology”, MSA introduced a remarkable new line of emergency service operation advances called the alpha series. alphaCLICK, as a part of the alpha SCBA enhancements, increases safety and efficiency. alphaCLICK is now available with the MSA AirMaXX and BD 96 breathing apparatus systems as well as for filling panels.
